Aside from a misguided detour into finance in the early 2000s, my entire professional life has revolved around the arts in one way or another. After graduating from St. John’s in Houston, I pursued a BFA in Art History at the University of Texas. My senior thesis was on the restoration of the Rothko Chapel paintings, which inspired me to learn how to repair artwork. I left Austin to train in art conservation studios in Houston, New York, and Los Angeles. Knowing how to clean, restore, and protect paintings and sculpture certainly comes in handy today.

In 2007, I was accepted to Rice University’s joint Master’s/Phd program in Art History. I received a MA with a major in modern art and a (kind of random) minor in medieval architecture. I passed my oral exams and began working on my dissertation on Marilyn Minter before marriage and three wonderful boys had me stall out at ABD (All But Dissertation) status.

I happily landed a job at The Menil Collection after grad school and worked in administration and communications for nine years before leaving in 2021 to start consulting for a Houston gallery specializing in emerging artists.

I love consulting because every day is different. I could start with a client meeting in the morning and be at the framer before lunch, only to drop off a piece at a local conservation studio before checking out the newest arrivals at a local gallery. I can draw on twenty-plus years of education and experience when my clients have questions like:

“What sort of frame would you put on this piece?”

“How should I protect my artwork from future damage?”

“Can you recommend artwork that will appreciate in value?”

“I love abstract work but my husband only likes landscapes. Can you help?”

I can answer all of these questions and more. Click below to set up a call.
